LCCC Representatives Attended Semicon Europa 2025

Last week our chip competence centre representatives Jānis Sperga, Jurijs Jastrzembskis, Aivars Vembris and Katrīna Buša attended Semicon Europa 2025 in Munich, Germany organised by SEMI. There, they met semiconductor industry stakeholders from across Europe and Asia.

It was also our pleasure to connect with colleagues from various aCCCess Chip Competence Centres — thanks in large part to the informal networking event hosted by ChipNL Competence Centre | ChipNL CC.

One key challenge highlighted for Europe is the rapidly growing demand for a skilled semiconductor workforce, with a forecasted shortage of 65,000 workers by 2030, as presented by Victoria Cummings and the European Chips Skills Academy.

At the Latvian Chip Competence Centre, we recognise the importance of addressing this skills gap by working at the university curriculum level, offering lifelong learning courses for industry, and promoting chip-related STEM education for children.
